At Manuka Baby we believe natural fibres are best for precious newborn babies, Merino Wool, 100% Wool, Organic Cotton, Cotton Elastane and combinations of these.

Baby benefits from the natural attributes of two of nature’s most breathable and temperature regulating fibres; New Zealand merino wool and 100% cotton.
In the Wool Cotton range the two natural fibres are woven to create one; merino wool on the outside and cotton on the inside. The Wool Cotton Blend range is slightly different in that these two natural yarns are blended together to create one unique fabric.
Merino Benefits:
New Zealand Merino Wool responds to changes in baby’s body temperature, keeping baby warm when the weather is cold and cool and comfortable when weather is hot.
Merino is constantly seeking to achieve equilibrium between the external environment and the internal environment next to baby’s skin by absorbing and releasing moisture.
The hydrophilic core of the Merino fibre has an amazing capacity to absorb liquid, thus removing perspiration from the skin, moving moisture away, and releasing it as vapour, avoiding the uncomfortable ‘clammy’ feeling that can be so disruptive to sleep.
Millions of tiny air pockets enable it to retain heat, making garments warm and comfortable to wear.
The natural elasticity of the Merino fibre allows Baby the freedom of movement and the ultimate in comfort.
What’s more, Merino contains natural fire retardants making merino an excellent fabric for babies clothing.
Cotton Benefits:
Because cotton is a natural fibre, it naturally ventilates.
Cotton absorbs body moisture and evaporates it to the surrounding air, thus allowing Baby’s body its natural tendency to breathe – like Merino, it keeps Baby cool in summer and dry and warm in winter. So, not only are babies comfortable in cotton, they are healthy wearing it!
Also, cotton is hypoallergenic; it doesn't irritate sensitive newborn skin or cause allergies.
The Wool Cotton range keeps downy cotton next to baby’s skin, which may reduce in skin irritations.
